Bonsai for beginners:

Have you ever wanted to learn the art of bonsai? Well, this class is perfect for you!

Bonsai is the ancient Japanese art form of growing miniature trees in containers, which help us connect to nature.

Hosted in collaboration with Bonsai Sensation Nursery and Botanicah - Southside's biggest plant warehouse; this hands-on class is designed for beginners, where you can enter a slow paced, relaxing and calm environment.

Bonsai means ‘plant in a tray, ' where this involves stunting a tree's growth by skilful branch and root pruning. The tree is also prohibited from developing by keeping it in a small container.

When you begin to bonsai, you are shaping the idea of a tree, that belongs somewhere in the future. Bonsai are often passed down through generations as heirlooms, leaving a legacy of hope, serenity and grace.

In this class, you will put together your very own bonsai tree.

You will learn how to:

  • Select your outdoor tree
  • Select your pot
  • Consider style
  • Wiring
  • Repotting
  • Pruning

At the end, you will take home your bonsai tree planted in a container, as well as the confidence to continue caring for the plant in years to come!
